New York is one of the largest cities of the US but its architecture mirrors the development of the city throughout decades and centuries. In this respect, it is possible to refer to Chapter 7 of Reynold’s book, which uncovers the history of New York architecture and its contemporary buildings. In fact, the author provides the detailed on the architecture of New York and design of the city revealing close connections between the past of the city and its present development.

On reading the book, I discovered a new side of New York, which I was not aware of. For instance, the MOMA originated from a small museum, which displayed its collections in 1929 in a small rented space but, in the course of time, it evolved in a huge museum conveying the history and peculiarities of New York. In such a way, New York has a number of places, which became symbols of the city but which used to be small and unknown in the past.

At the same time, the Winter Garden impresses visitors of New York with its natural beauty. The author helps to understand the development and reasons for the architecture and design of the contemporary New York. On the other hand, the author uncovers facts, which were unknown for me. For instance, many clubs used Italian style. At this point, it is possible to refer to the University Club. Therefore, the architecture of clubs was similar and is closely related to Italian style.

Thus, Chapter 7 of Reynold’s book helps to understand better the history and development of architecture in New York.
