Medicine.
In my mind the career of a doctor is not so easy to succeed in, but it is one of the most rewarding professions.
Medical studies have undergone different stages of development through years, and this field has become extremely vast in specializations, any of which is interesting. Nowadays it is impossible for General Physicians with an MBBS degree to handle all ailments. It is here that specialization in a particular branch of medicine becomes a necessity.
Moreover this career is not only noble and useful as for me, but also it provides you with constant opportunities for growth and new challenges. If you manage to become a professional in whatever field of medicine you will always be well-employed and thus ”“ well-paid.
Social Worker.
Social workers are meant to help people to cope with their problems and start new lives. Frequently people of this profession work with homeless, sick, and having family problems people.
Many social workers also counsel people. They are talking to people about their lives and help to find solutions appropriate to their problems.
I suppose this career would meet my expectations as I love people, I am naturally a good psychologist, and I often help my friends and relatives. Moreover such profession provides an opportunity of starting own business. I believe this career is very perspective. Jobs working with older people will grow especially fast because there will be more people who are old and need help. Jobs helping people who are addicted to drugs and alcohol will also grow quickly. Jobs in schools will grow because there will be more students with special needs.
Photographer.
To be a photographer is alike to be an artist, but you have your camera instead of brushes and paints. They entertain people, bring them back their memories, and find new ways of depicting ordinary things. Some photographers spend most time in their studios; others travel to places near and far. Some photographers prefer to work independently and they have a lot of freedom. They can make their own schedules and choose with what material they wish to work.
Photographers have to meet deadlines, so they should be very responsible and punctual people.
I like this kind of career. I feel that it is very creative and full of opportunities. And often your payment depends strictly on the quality of your work. Also it is fascinating to travel to various places and take beautiful pictures, meet new people and learn new things.
Nevertheless photography I a very competitive field. Only the most skilled people and who have the best reputations are able to find jobs to attract enough work to support themselves.
Annie Leibovitz
I would like to tell about a prominent woman-photographer Annie Leibovitz.
Anna-Lou Leibovitz was born in 1949 in Westbury, CT. Her father worked in the Air Force, so family had to move often. First Annie tried herself as a photographer during the time of Vietnam War during a posting to Philippines. In 1970 Annie met the founding editor of “Rolling Stone” Jann Wenner and he offered a job for her. He was greatly impressed by her portfolio and assigned her to photograph John Lennon. The next step was work in the “Vanity Fair” in 1983, and in 1998 she began to work for “Vogue”. She has the experience of work with many arts organizations, such as the Brooklyn Academy of Music and the Mark Morris Dance Group. Still Annie continues to focus on celebrities.
Her books include Annie Leibovitz: Photographs (1983), Photographs: Annie Leibovitz 1970”“1990 (1991), Olympic Portraits (1996), Women (1999), American Music (2003), A Photographer’s Life: 1990”“2005 (2006), and Annie Leibovitz at Work (2008).
The first widely published photo by Annie Leibovitz was the January 12, 1971 cover image for “Rolling Stone”. Her main job was to take photos of celebrities.
The 1981 “Rolling Stone” cover image of a nude John Lennon is probably the best known photo of Annie. An interesting fact is that this image was taken just hours before John Lennon was murdered.
Exhibitions of Annie’s images had a chance to be seen at worldwide known museums and galleries, such as the National Portrait Gallery and the Corcoran Gallery, in Washington, D.C.; the International Center of Photography, in New York; the Brooklyn Museum; the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam; the Centre National de la Photographie, in Paris; and the National Portrait Gallery in London. Leibovitz has been designated a Living Legend by the Library of Congress and is the recipient of many other honors, including the Barnard College Medal of Distinction and the Infinity Award in Applied Photography from the International Center of Photography. She was decorated a Commandeur in the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French government. She lives in New York with her three children, Sarah, Susan, and Samuelle.
